Raising a glass to
Sober October
Every October, thousands of people choose to give their favourite tipple a rest - not out of penance, but for purpose. Sober October invites participants to take a break from alcohol while raising money for organisations like Macmillan Cancer Support, with friends and family sponsoring their month-long sobriety. A noble cause indeed - and, we might add, an excellent excuse to get creative with what’s in your glass.
Because while the booze takes a backseat, good taste certainly doesn’t have to. At The Vintage List, we believe the ritual of a beautifully made drink - the ice clinking, the pour, the sparkle of cut glass - deserves to be enjoyed, alcohol or not. Whether you’re abstaining for charity, curiosity, or simply for a clearer head, Sober October is the perfect moment to discover how refined an alcohol-free evening can feel.
The Sober October Spritz
A sophisticated take on the classic aperitif - all the ceremony, none of the consequences.
You’ll need:
- 75ml blood orange juice (fresh if possible)
- 50ml sparkling water
- 50ml non-alcoholic aperitif (try Everleaf, Lyre’s Italian Orange, or Æcorn Bitter)
- A squeeze of fresh lime
- A few rosemary sprigs for garnish
- Plenty of ice
To serve:
Fill one of our etched Bistro glasses with ice. Pour in the blood orange juice and aperitif, top with sparkling water, and finish with lime and rosemary. The result is crisp, citrusy, and elegant - proof that alcohol-free doesn’t mean joy-free.
The Joy of a Good Glass
Let’s be honest - it’s not just what you drink, it’s how you drink it. The simple act of pouring a drink into something beautiful transforms the everyday into a small celebration. And if that celebration also supports a good cause, well, that’s something worth raising a glass to.
Explore our collection of glassware and make your Sober October a month of style, purpose, and perfectly poured mocktails.
