Springtime Sips: Floral Cocktails to Welcome the Season

As the days begin to stretch a little longer and the first signs of blossom appear, there is a gentle shift in the air. Winter’s heavier drinks start to feel less appealing, and suddenly we find ourselves reaching for something lighter, fresher and a little more playful. Spring is the season for floral flavours, delicate aromas and cocktails that feel as bright as the days ahead.

At The Vintage List, we think this time of year calls for drinks that feel celebratory but effortless. A coupe catching the afternoon light, a wine glass filled with something sparkling, a drink garnished with herbs or petals that hint at the garden waking up again.

Here are three floral-inspired cocktails and mocktails to sip as spring arrives...

1. Elderflower Gin Fizz

Fresh, floral and effortlessly elegant

Elderflower has a way of capturing the spirit of spring perfectly. Light, aromatic and gently sweet, it pairs beautifully with gin and citrus for a drink that feels bright and refreshing.

You’ll need

50 ml gin
20 ml elderflower liqueur (or elderflower cordial for a lighter version)
20 ml fresh lemon juice
Sparkling water
Ice
Lemon twist or edible flower to garnish

How to serve

Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the gin, elderflower and lemon juice, then top with sparkling water. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon twist or edible flower. This one works just as well as a mocktail. Simply swap the gin for more sparkling water or tonic.

2. Lavender Lemon Spritz

A soft, fragrant mocktail with serious charm

Lavender brings a subtle floral note that feels instantly calming and surprisingly sophisticated when paired with citrus. This alcohol-free spritz is perfect for a slow afternoon in the garden or a spring brunch.

You’ll need

25 ml lavender syrup
30 ml fresh lemon juice
Sparkling water or soda
Ice
Sprig of lavender or lemon slice

How to serve

Fill a champagne coupe or fluted glass with ice. Add the lavender syrup and lemon juice, top with sparkling water and stir gently. Garnish with a small sprig of lavender or a thin slice of lemon.

The colour alone makes it feel like spring in a glass.

3. Rose & Raspberry Clover

A romantic floral twist on a classic

Rose water and raspberry bring a soft floral sweetness to this cocktail, making it perfect for spring evenings or small gatherings.

You’ll need

40 ml gin

20 ml raspberry syrup

15 ml fresh lemon juice

2 drops rose water

1 egg white (optional, for froth)

Fresh raspberries to garnish

How to serve

Shake the gin, raspberry syrup, lemon juice, rose water and egg white without ice first to create foam. Add ice and shake again, then strain into a vintage coupe glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries. The result is light, fragrant and beautifully balanced.

A Glass Worth the Season

Spring drinks are all about freshness, colour and aroma. Floral cocktails naturally lend themselves to beautiful presentation, and the right glass only enhances the experience. A coupe adds elegance, a wine glass gives generous space for spritzes and garnishes, and a fluted glass lets bubbles dance in the light.

Whether you are hosting friends, enjoying a slow afternoon or simply welcoming the return of longer evenings, these springtime sips are a perfect way to mark the season.
