Dry January, Done Properly: A Refined Mocktail Recipe Worth Pouring
January has a habit of arriving quietly, armed with good intentions. Dry January, in particular, invites a pause - fewer late nights, clearer mornings, and a chance to reset after the indulgence of December. But while the alcohol may take a step back, the ritual of a well-made drink shouldn’t disappear altogether.
At The Vintage List, we’ve always believed that it’s not just what you drink, but how you drink it. A beautifully poured mocktail in a vintage-inspired glass still feels celebratory, intentional, and just a little indulgent - which, frankly, is exactly what January needs.
The Dry January Spritz
Bright, balanced, and quietly sophisticated
This alcohol-free spritz is fresh, lightly bitter, and citrus-forward - designed to feel grown-up rather than overly sweet. Think aperitif energy, minus the aftermath.
You’ll need:
- 50ml non-alcoholic aperitif
- 75ml pink grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed if possible)
- Sparkling water, to top
- A squeeze of fresh lemon
- Ice
- Rosemary or grapefruit peel to garnish
To serve:
Fill an etched highball glass with ice. Add the non-alcoholic aperitif, grapefruit juice, and lemon. Top generously with sparkling water and give a gentle stir. Garnish with rosemary or a twist of grapefruit peel and serve immediately.
Crisp, refreshing, and entirely proof that Dry January doesn’t have to feel dull.

The pleasure of a drink often lies in the details - the clink of ice, the weight of the glass, the way light catches etched crystal. Pouring a mocktail into something beautiful elevates the experience, transforming it from “making do” into something intentional.
Our vintage-inspired glassware was made for moments like this: when you want to enjoy the ritual without excess, and still feel like the evening counts.
A Month of Thoughtful Indulgence
Dry January isn’t about deprivation - it’s about recalibrating. Slower evenings, better sleep, and drinks that taste as good as they look. Whether you’re abstaining completely or simply drinking more mindfully, there’s something quietly satisfying about doing it well.So pour yourself something alcohol-free, reach for your favourite glass, and enjoy the pause.
